  1. I will not be seeing the group for awhile. I have accepted a temporary assignment back at Disney as a Recuiter where I worked before. The assignment will end in mid January-hopefully I will be extended! I enjoyed the networking group and will definitely keep in touch. And if there is anything I can do to assist you or anyone else in the group, please let me know.

  2. Even though I am not a job-seeker, I'd like to express my greatest appreciation for all you have been doing for our local professionals. I followed your postings and checked out the Blog - which is fantastic!

I am happy to support the group with valuable tips, tools and insights in any way possible. For instance, I created a free "Effectiveness Assessment for Career Seekers" - where they can check out how well their career search strategy is working for them -which areas need attention - and how they can improve. I'd be happy to make this assessment available to the group.

  3. As some of you already know, I am now working at Symantec with their Global Partner survey/loyalty programs. It is a great company and I am still learning my new role but I am very excited about the opportunity. The role is challenging and I believe I can make a real contribution here.

I can't thank you all enough for your support during this transition. I wish you all the best of luck and hope to hear good news from you soon, as well. I realize that I don't have most of the group's email addresses, so please feel free to pass this news along. Please let me know if I can be of assistance to you.

Good luck and stay in touch.

  4. I just wanted to send a brief message to let you know that I started a new job, actually in November. I am now with Quintiles Transnational Corp as a District Sales Manager covering FL, AL, and GA. As you can imagine, I am on the road a lot but our family is dealing with it quite well.

  5. I wanted to give you some great news and let you know that I have finally landed a job! Yes, just after entering my 11th month of unemployment I confirmed a position with Fisher-Price. This will mean a move for me and my family out of central Florida which is not a desirable but was definitely a necessity as there has not been many options during my job search. We will be headed to the New York City area - which will be a big change for us!

I wish all the rest in the CMN group the best as they continue to search for employment in this tough economy. May everyone have a Happy and Healthy Holiday.

  7. I want to share some good news with you and the others. I have "landed", I started a new job in banking with RBC Bank as a Banking Center Manager on January 4. I would like to share with you and all the others, just how important and valuable the weekly meeting have been for me. As you know, I live in Leesburg, but the trip to Robb & Stucky for meetings was so encouraging that I traveled to every one when I wasn't attending a session at Right Management. I have Joe Baker to thank for introducing me to the group, and I would ask that you keep me on your roster. If there are ways that I can assist, please let me know. Thanks again for all you do and I wish you the very best in 2010.

  8. My Dearest Supporters and Friends,

Where do I begin to thank you for all of the support, encouraging e-mails, kind words, thoughts and prayers you sent my way? Some of you forwarded my resume, some offered to be a reference, some forwarded leads to me...... ALL OF YOU helped me emotionally make it through this last 6 1/2 months - and I actually kept a smile on my face most of the time - because of all of YOU.

I am the proud new employee of Wyndham Vacation Ownership. I start on Monday, December 21st. I will be an Administrative Assistant, supporting 2 VP's and 3 Directors - and they are all GREAT! I am very much looking forward to this new opportunity. And - the office is 10 minutes from my home!!!!!!!! (Bye, Bye, I-4!!!!!!!!!!)

Now, just because I will not be e-mailing you each month "reminding" you that I am still unemployed, that does not mean we should not stay in touch! I will be keeping this e-mail address and I REALLY want to stay in touch with all of you. Like it or not, we have formed a special bond and you are now stuck with me - caring about you and your families for ever and ever! So, please keep me updated!

Have a Wonderful Holiday. Please - always remember how grateful I am and how each and every one of you made a difference in my life.

  10. Just wanted to thank the entire CMN group for all the support and energy you have extended me during my long period of unemployment.
I admire and appreciate the dedication and passion you all put into managing and maintaining the CMN group together.
I am committed to remain connected to the group and I am willing to assist in any way I can.

    Regards.

  12. I have accepted a position as Network Manager at CFE Federal Credit Union. I start March 1st and am very excited. This position was not advertised and I was considered only as a result of a personal reference.

    Thanks for all your support!!!

  13. I haven't what you call "landed" so to speak, but I have just accepted a part-time temporary job back at Disney in my old division.

It will last for about 3 months or so, I am hoping it will help lead to something permanent, so I won't be at the Friday meetings for a while.

  14. I am returning to IBM as a contractor through Artech Information Systems starting Tuesday March 2nd. I will be working from home supporting the Kaiser Permanente account in California. It will be a short term contract to start but could end up running for a year or so.

I want to thank everyone in our group for their support. You are by far the best networking group I came across during my job search. I especially want to thank Bob Duncan for his excellent leadership.

Good luck to everyone in their job search.

  17. Great News!!

After nearly a year of career exploration, I have accepted a position with North Highland Worldwide, an Atlanta based consulting firm but I will be in Orlando. I will be a Senior Consultant providing organizational and leadership development services and support. I am very excited about this opportunity and started today, Monday. The people, environment and work are all very appealing and I look forward to taking on this exceptional challenge.

Thank you for all your and the Career Management Network.

  18. Last week I accepted a position at a company called Alinean. Alinean is a software company located in downtown Orlando. My duties are varied but they are mostly project management in nature. Thanks for all your support over these past 11 months. I am not sure how I would have held up without the weekly Friday meetings. I will continue to be in touch with the CMN group and pass along any job opportunities I come across.

My first day is Monday and I am traveling to Cleveland to visit one of the companies they contract some of their software development out to.

  19. I haven't been around much and my apologies to the group - but I was very busy interviewing and I've landed!

  20. It's OFFICIAL. Got the first paycheck. I am a new employee at Alliance Sales & Marketing. Thanks to everyone's support during a long journey. I will keep my ears open for those still in the hunt.

  21. After nearly one year of job searching my efforts paid off. I've landed a position as an HR Director for a non-for-profit organization called Family Services of Metro Orlando!

I can't begin to express how invaluable this group has been to me in terms of job search support, expertise sharing, emotional support, friendships, etc. I'm so grateful to have met everyone and I will definitely keep in touch with the group on a long term basis.

I has been an interesting year, but I do feel confident that the tides are turning and the job market will heat up soon. Looking forward to seeing each one of you landing soon and if there is ever anything I can do, don't hesitate to ask!

  22. Just thought I would drop you a line to let you know that I have LANDED a position as an Inventory Coordinator in the Orlando metro area. BIG THANKS goes out to you and the group for all the support and exposure to great speakers over the past months. Thanks again and good luck to all in the group.

  23. I've landed...though it could be a temporary layover!

I start a new part-time contract position as a writer on the course design team at Disney Institute on Monday. It's project oriented, but if I do well on this first one, then there are several projects lined up behind it and it could eventually go full time.

Timing was amazing - the account exec I signed up with at AppleOne (staffing agency) called me on Thursday, I did a phone interview on Friday, and I start the job tomorrow.

Many advocate the job-hunting strategy of FOCUSING on a narrow definition of your job preferences and even companies you want to work for, but I wound up with this position because I cast a wide net. I have a rather odd professional background that allowed me to go in several directions, and believe me, this is the last thing I expected because it's so niche-oriented.

Someday I would still like to direct the marketing efforts of a small to medium sized Orlando-based company, but the chance to work at the Disney Institute is too rich to pass up, even if it isn't full time right away!

I haven't been to any CMN meetings lately, but I continue to read the posts and wish nothing but the best for all of us. I remain dedicated to the effort of passing along good info I find to help people in this group make the transition!

  24. I want you to know I landed this week at Pitney Bowes as a Senior Area Sales Executive. I seem to have been doing all my interviews the last several weeks on Friday and have been missing the meetings.

I really appreciate all the support from the group over the past several months and it looks like the momentum has been picking up lately, so best of luck to all!

  25. I will be starting Monday as a customer solutions engineer for MKS, Inc. I'll be working from home and traveling to client sites to help teach and install MKS Integrity, their flagship product. Thanks to everyone for all their support! I'll be there this Friday to say hi.

BTW - I got this job through networking - it works!

  26. I've Landed . . . and returning to SunTrust!

I am returning to SunTrust in a position similar to my previous role. My title is First VP and role is Project Manager for Private Wealth Management's Wealth Services Group. I'll report directly to corporate in Atlanta with my office located in the SunTrust Tower in downtown Orlando.

Being a part of the Career Management Network has been a valuable part of making my transition (a little over a year) much easier. I made many friends in the network and intend to continue the relationships. Thank you to those of you who volunteered to become by "coachees" as I worked toward getting certified as a Registered Corporate Coach. I wish I could have helped more of you. My coaching skills will be invaluable in my new role at SunTrust as I work with Managers and Advisors in managing their client relationships, developing new business, and delivering an exceptional Client Experience.

Stay in touch, and I wish everyone the best in your transition and next career destination.

  27. I keep meaning to update y'all on my "new" job! I'm back at Disney, since February, and have been going almost non-stop since then. I'm very fortunate in that I'm able to work from home (in GA), while still fulfilling my commitments on the PTSA board.

I hope all is well with you and your business is taking off! Keep in touch!

  28. I finally landed! I will be working for a great company, Gencore. Thanks for all of the support from the network and I look forward to helping anyone I can with their job search.

  29. I wanted to send you a quick note to let you know that I'm transitioning from my previous job as an editor at the Orlando Sentinel to ... being an editor at the Orlando Sentinel.

I'm not exactly returning to my old position (it was eliminated with most of the editing department in April), but I will be performing most of the same news-editing tasks as before. And, although there remain many, many economic challenges to the news media today, I look forward to returning to what I do best and trying to enact any positive changes I can, both for the industry in general and the Sentinel specifically.

I can't say enough how much the networking group has helped me through a difficult time. The informational aspects of the group have been helpful, of course, but the individuals I have meet each Friday have had the greatest positive effect for me.

Aside from the financial downside of being unemployed, the emotional freefall has been the scariest for me, and the worst was when I felt as though I had no hope of finding my professional grounding again.
But it was in the interaction with the Career Management group that helped me to feel less isolated in my own experiences, which I clearly could see being experienced by others in the group, too. And, as I saw the other group members struggle with the same issues -- and overcome them successfully -- I was instilled with a new sense of positivity and hope. And that, as you know, can make all the difference in the world for one's confidence and the ability move on professionally.

Thanks for all you've done for me and best of success with everything with the group and its members.

  30. Although I've only been part of the group for a short time, wanted everyone to know I start Monday on a 6 month contract in Tallahassee. This could lead to a longer contract if not a permanent position.

Thanks to everyone especially Mike Jirout for introducing me to the group and Bob Duncan for all is leadership and assistance.

  31. I have accepted a temp. to perm. position with Randstad staffing at "Our Father's Table" as an accounts payable clerk. I hope it will become permanent.

If I ever can be of help please contact me.

I will continue to follow you through LinkedIn and the CMN blog.

  32. The Finance Guy is now the Accounting Guy! I have landed!

I am returning to SunTrust as Accounting Manager in the Bank's Incentive Plan Administration Department for it's Wealth Divison . My first day will be this Friday 4/16.

CMN and all of its members were instrumental in helping me to keep focused (and sane) during my transition and I want to personally thank you all. Because of the good that this group does, I want to make sure that we can continue to provide the tools and support for those job seekers out there.

And also thanks to CMN and all the members for helping me throughout the past months with my resume, interviewing, and other strategies that helped me get this position.
